The Macau Innovation and Invention Association held its 2020 Conference on February 29th at the auditorium of Pui Dao Secondary School. At the first member meeting of the seventh session in four years, nearly 70 people including representatives of school groups, corporate members and individual members from 30 colleges and universities and primary and secondary schools attended the event. The meeting was chaired by Li Baiqiang, chairman of the conference. Current Chairman Wei Zhibin made a meeting work report, Finance Minister Li Xueling made a financial report, and Chief Supervisor Liang Yixing made a Board of Supervisors report, all of which were unanimously approved by the members. The meeting also elected a new term of president, directors and supervisors, with Li Baiqiang, Wei Zhibin and Liang Yixing serving as president, chairman and supervisor respectively, and Yuan Guozhan was appointed executive chairman. Wei Zhibin emphasized in the conference report that since its establishment 20 years ago, the association has actively organized Macao students, individuals and enterprises to participate in innovation and invention competitions and exchange activities on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and around the world. Last year alone, there were more than 20 activities; a total of 20 years of participation The activities organized by the club have attracted more than 10,000 people. What’s even more gratifying is that following the 2015 Ma Ying and her team from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Macau, which were organized by our association to participate in the Austrian World Paper Plane Competition, they won the only best team award and Ma Yingying won the world record. After finishing second for the longest time in the air, he was also awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Macau Special Administrative Region. At the end of last year, the General Office of the China Association for Science and Technology issued the "Notice on Commending Relevant Organizational Units and Activities of the National Science Popularization Day in 2023". On the list, the Macau Innovation and Invention Association was awarded one of the seats as an outstanding organizational unit. In his speech, Li Baiqiang said that he was very happy to see the members of the new leadership structure successfully elected through the election. Two new middle school group members have been added this time, and the members have been further strengthened. At the same time, in order to warmly celebrate the fifth anniversary of the promulgation of the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Plan" and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Association this year, the Paper Plane Competition, which has been suspended for four years due to the epidemic, will continue to be held. , and moved to Foshan City in the Greater Bay Area for the competition, targeting students from universities, secondary schools and primary schools in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. At the same time, the 12th Macau International Innovation and Invention Exhibition will be held at the Macau Convention and Exhibition Center at the end of October.
